GoMath Program
As we continue to review place value we have moved on to our addition and subtraction topics. Students are learning strategies on how to compute mental math using an empty number line and by rounding to the nearest ten. To expand on these concepts students will eventually work with greater numbers in the thousands, ten thousands, and hundred thousands places. We are using our whole body listening skills and perseverance skills to solve these challenging mathematical equations. I am always proud to see how students are thinking about numbers and operations!
We are beginning to add 2-digit numbers and will be introducing regrouping/carrying/borrowing strategies. These vocabulary terms are interchangeable and are used to enforce the math language used in our EnVisions program.

September 2017
We have started our Place Value math topic and are working on learning numbers greater than 1,000. Students have been actively engaged and producing exceptional notes in their interactive math notebooks. I encourage you to practice with your child saying numbers like....
24,567
456,098
67,234
1,987,654
Some additional questions that may be asked are as follows:
*What digit is in the hundreds place?
*The value of the 9 in the number 76,915 is what?
*What period is the 2 in, in number 323,780?
*The 3 in the number 67,345 is in what place?
(Please use these questions as a guide to create more questions or have your child create questions themselves for you to answer.)
